An eyelink belt (also called an eye-link or wire eye belt) is a metal conveyor belt made of rows of wire eyes linked by crossrods. Tribelt, a conveyor belt manufacturer in Haaksbergen, the Netherlands, builds these belts in its own factory. The linked construction gives a flat, stable carrying surface that tracks accurately and lasts for years, which is why eyelink belts turn up everywhere from industrial bakeries to pharmaceutical sterilisers.

Tribelt designs each eyelink belt around the product it has to carry. Heavy bulk loads and small, fragile items need different openings and link strengths, and the range of variants covers both ends.

Type Construction Typical use
OGB-L Segments and links with a locating wire Widths up to 6,500 mm, cryogenic up to 600 °C
OGB Classic interwoven wire links Widths up to 6,500 mm, up to about 250 °C
OGB-LF / OGB-F Flattened eyes, very small openings Tiny products such as seeds; same options as OGB-L
OGB-S Springs replace the locating wire Processes where eye spacing must stay constant

Specifications at a glance

  • Eye wire: 1.5 to 3.0 mm diameter
  • Crossrod wire: 3.2 to 8.0 mm diameter
  • Belt width: 40 to 6,500 mm
  • Pitch: 15.875 to 75 mm
  • Materials: carbon steel 1.0304, stainless 1.4301 (AISI 304), 1.4401 (AISI 316) and 1.4541 (AISI 321)
  • Temperature: from cryogenic to 600 °C, depending on type
  • Baking ovens in bakeries and in potato processing
  • Cooling and freezing tunnels (freezer belts)
  • Drying and pasteurising tunnels
  • Sterilisation in pharmaceutical production
  • Industrial washing machines
  • Conveying very small products such as seeds (OGB-LF and OGB-F)
  • Runs straight because the drive elements position the belt precisely
  • Carries heavy loads thanks to the adjustable link construction
  • No slip: the belt is driven by sprockets or drums
  • Long life, which eccentric links can extend further by taking up wear
  • Easy to clean because of the open build and slotted-hole links
  • Gentle on fragile products when solid links are specified
  • Openings from very dense to wide open, depending on the type

Options

Raised side plates, pushers (flights), filler bushes, dedicated product carriers and side chains can all be added so the belt suits the process exactly.

Tribelt drives eyelink belts with three kinds of element, chosen for the load and temperature of the line. See drive elements for the full range.

  • Tube drum: a closed drum with milled teeth; hygienic, rigid and suited to heavy loads, common in food plants and industrial ovens.
  • Cage drum: welded discs and bars in an open frame for heavy duty in ovens, cooling, freezing and drying tunnels.
  • Drive wheel: milled sprockets for light to medium loads in baking ovens, tunnels and washers.

Frequently asked questions

What is an eyelink belt?

An eyelink belt is a metal conveyor belt built from wire eyes held together by crossrods and links. Tribelt makes them in Haaksbergen for baking, cooling, freezing, drying and washing lines in the food, pharmaceutical and general manufacturing industries.

Which eyelink types does Tribelt make?

Five: OGB-L (with a locating wire, up to 600 °C), OGB (classic interwoven design, up to about 250 °C), OGB-LF and OGB-F (flattened eyes for very small openings) and OGB-S (springs instead of a locating wire to keep eye spacing constant).

What sizes and materials are available?

Widths run from 40 mm to 6,500 mm and pitches from 15.875 mm to 75 mm. Tribelt supplies carbon steel 1.0304 as well as stainless grades AISI 304, AISI 316 and AISI 321.

Will an eyelink belt fit my current line?

Yes. Each belt is made to order, so width, drive and build are matched to the existing installation. Tribelt's engineers review the line before production so the surrounding machinery does not have to change.

How long does delivery take?

It depends on the type and the options chosen. Tribelt can offer express delivery and prototypes, and engineering advice on the right configuration is part of every quotation.
