The role

Verspaner is the Dutch term for a machinist who removes metal by turning and milling. Tribelt, the metal conveyor belt manufacturer in Haaksbergen, the Netherlands, is looking for a CNC turner/miller for 40 hours per week. The machinist makes the sprockets that drive Tribelt's conveyor belts, working independently on a modern Mazak lathe and a 4-axis milling machine, setting them up and programming them where needed.

Precision is the core of the job: every sprocket has to be right to a hundredth of a millimetre. Many sprockets are repeat orders, which lets the machinist master the process and refine their craft. At the same time there is room to think along on new designs and unusual orders, fine-tune settings and suggest improvements. The results are visible on the shop floor, in product quality and in the machines where the sprockets end up.

Tasks

  • Producing sprockets to technical drawings and quality standards
  • Checking quality and finishing parts, for example deburring and cutting keyways
  • Maintaining the machines, including oil, coolant, tooling and chip bins
  • Aligning planning and progress with work preparation
  • Spotting and carrying out process improvements, with room for own ideas
  • Making special tools for internal use
  • CAM programming in Edgecam

Profile

  • Vocational training (MBO level 2 or 3) in mechanical engineering, machining or similar
  • Experience with CNC turning and milling, and able to read technical drawings
  • Works independently and accurately, with a problem-solving attitude
  • A team player who takes responsibility for their own work
  • Experience with Edgecam is an advantage
