Open Spiral Belts: production, application and expertise
Ask Tribelt about open spiral belts on tribelt.nlWhat an open spiral belt is
An open spiral belt is a metal conveyor belt woven from wire spirals, each carefully formed and joined by crossrods. In English it is also known as a balanced weave belt. Its defining feature is an open mesh: air, heat, liquid and small particles pass through the belt without obstruction. That makes it a natural fit wherever ventilation, heat resistance or sterilisation is part of the process.
Each spiral and crossrod can pivot independently, so the belt is flexible yet still runs straight. Open spiral belts come in many wire grades and diameters, which lets Tribelt adapt them to very different industrial conditions.
Benefits
- Efficiency: the open weave promotes air circulation and heat transfer in ovens, dryers and sterilisation tunnels. Positively driven versions cannot slip and keep a steady, straight run.
- Durability: made of stainless steel or special alloys, the belts withstand up to about 1,150 °C and are designed for long service.
- Product safety: the construction limits damage, so sensitive products travel reliably.
- Low maintenance: robust design and wear-resistant wire mean little upkeep, and parts such as sprockets or product carriers are simple to replace.
- Value: standard and flattened versions are especially economical, while custom options exist for demanding jobs.
Where they are used
- Food: bread and pastry oven belts, cooling and baking lines for potato and vegetable products, and fryers.
- Pharmaceuticals: sterilisation tunnels and dryers that treat sensitive materials safely.
- Industrial processing: drying insulation materials, tempering glass and metal treatments such as hardening, sintering and brazing.
- Special conveying: transfers with tight bends or minimal gaps between conveyors, and transport at high temperatures.
Variants and custom options from Tribelt
- Standard wide spiral belts for general conveying.
- Flattened versions that give extra stability for fine or small products.
- Positively driven ClearTrac belts that prevent slip and stay straight on wide or long conveyors.
- Special edges such as U-hooks, welded or flattened edges.
Tribelt can add product carriers, side chains, raised side plates and flights, and tailors wire material, wire size and temperature rating to the process. All sprockets and drive parts are machined in-house to the customer's specification. Full technical data are on the open spiral belts product page.
Why choose an open spiral belt
For a production line, a Tribelt open spiral belt is a link that keeps the whole process running. Its strength, heat resistance, broad applicability and many options make it a dependable choice for tough production environments. Because Tribelt makes the belts itself in Haaksbergen, it can promise consistent quality and short lead times.
